Since AMD announced its AM1-based APUs, it was inevitable that motherboard manufacturers were going to soon be making official announcements regarding AM1-compatible motherboards. Count Asus as one of those companies that’s entered the fray.
Asus revealed that it will release two new motherboards supporting AMD’s new AM1 platform, dubbed the AM1M-A and the AM1I-A.
The AM1M-A, a micro ATX board with two DDR3 DIMM slots, supports up to 32GB of RAM. It also features a single PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot that runs at x4 speed, HDMI, DVI-D, and VGA outputs, Realtek Gigabit Ethernet, Realtek 8-channel audio. It has two USB 3.0 ports in the back, along with four USB 2.0 ports in the rear. Hard drives will connect to the AM1M-A via two SATA 6Gbps ports.
The smaller AM1I-A (pictured), on the other hand, is a mini ITX board with similar specs, although one significant feature found on the AM1M-A is absent here. The AM1I-A also has two DDR3 DIMM slots supporting up to 32GB of RAM — but the PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot is replaced with one running at x4. This motherboard also has two rear-mounted USB 3.0 ports, a foursome of USB 2.0 ports in the back, along with a pair of SATA6 connectors. The AM1I-A also has one of each video connector found on its micro ATX based sibling; one HDMI, one DVI-D and one VGA. Both boards can be configured via a UEFI BIOS.
We’ve reached out to Asus to get a more robust list of details, including price and exact release date. We’ll let you know if and when we hear more. Both the AM1M-A and AM1I-A are expected to ship in “early April.”

The absolutely absurd idea of putting a touchscreen display on a mouse isn't exactly new. Turtle Beach already did it with its Command Series MC7, which features a 2.25-inch control screen. But apparently, even that wasn't ridiculous enough for Arctic Fox Technologies. Its new Super Mouse looks like someone took the chunky old Atari ST mouse, slapped a touchscreen and scroll wheel on it, and called it an upgrade.
The result is a rather unusual-looking mouse that is now on Kickstarter, starting at $199. And as ridiculous as it looks, some of its features are genuinely intriguing.
Apple is less than a day away from launching its highly anticipated OLED MacBook Pro with a touch-sensitive screen. But it appears that the upgrade is going to cost a pretty penny. According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is reportedly eyeing a starting price of $2,899 for the 14-inch MacBook Pro, while the 16-inch version could start at $3,399 in the US.
"At $2,899, the 14-inch model would mark the highest starting price for a new MacBook Pro model, surpassing the $2,799 Apple charged for a 17-inch version introduced in 2006," says the report. The report claims that Apple is targeting a minimum price hike of $400 for its upcoming redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
