The single, obligatory con is “Thick and heavy.” Considering that it’s a gaming laptop, that’s practically the equivalent of saying a flashlight is too bright to look at. Thick, and a bit heavy, […]

We’ve recently published a stunningly positive review of the HP OMEN Max 16. It’s got a list of “Pros” a mile long. The single, obligatory con is “Thick and heavy.” Considering that it’s a gaming laptop, that’s practically the equivalent of saying a flashlight is too bright to look at. Thick, and a bit heavy, just comes with the territory. All of this is to say that the review was great and we’re fans of the HP OMEN Max 16. As a deal hunter it made me want to go and see if I could find a deal on the HP OMEN Max 16 and I did, sort of. Right now you can get a customizable HP OMEN Max 16t — a laptop that, if it didn’t have a separate store page, I would think is identical to the one we reviewed — with a $500 discount, no matter what settings you choose. With the base settings of the laptop, that discount brings it from $2,100 to just $1,600, but you’re free to upgrade to your heart’s content. Tap the button below to start customizing to your whimsy or keep reading for some advice on how to do so and what to expect from the 16t.

The HP OMEN Max 16t is a gorgeous gaming laptop, giving off excellent professional vibes with only subtle RGB usage and a nods to its use for gaming. It is designed for excellent cooling and has an internal fan-cooling system that will keep your gear at max cool for longer. However, it’s largely what’s on the inside, and the screen, that counts. At its base (all of this is upgradeable) the laptop’s 16-inch screen has a 2K resolution and is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 series processor with an NVIDIA Ge Force RTX 5060 laptop GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage.

But what should you upgrade? It’s completely up to you, but here are some tips:

Apple is less than a day away from launching its highly anticipated OLED MacBook Pro with a touch-sensitive screen. But it appears that the upgrade is going to cost a pretty penny. According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is reportedly eyeing a starting price of $2,899 for the 14-inch MacBook Pro, while the 16-inch version could start at $3,399 in the US.

"At $2,899, the 14-inch model would mark the highest starting price for a new MacBook Pro model, surpassing the $2,799 Apple charged for a 17-inch version introduced in 2006," says the report. The report claims that Apple is targeting a minimum price hike of $400 for its upcoming redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

I've spent a good amount of time digging into the spec sheet of the new M6 MacBook Pro (14-inch), and for all intents and purposes, this is a classic Apple "chip and connectivity" refresh. It's not a full redesign. The chassis, Liquid Retina XDR panel, speakers, ports, and battery, all of them carry over unchanged.

However, the M6 brings more cores, stronger on-device AI, higher memory bandwidth on the larger configs, and modern wireless. Here’s the practical rundown of what actually improved, and whether those gains are worth your money.

Two new highly requested iCloud plugins just got added to ChatGPT, giving people who rely on Apple’s Mail and Calendar services a way to search emails, check appointments, and manage their schedules directly through the chatbot.

The integration is rolling out to all ChatGPT plans, including the free tier. You can access it on the web, desktop, and iOS.
