Like a hard-headed zombie, the Resident Evil franchise will never die, but will instead continuously claw at the brains of gamers seeking the thrills and chills that define the survival horror genre. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is the latest installment from Capcom arriving in January 2017, throwing players into an abandoned southern farmhouse armed with a new first-person perspective. That means players will finally get up close and personal with their favorite local zombie residents.

So what will PC gamers need to run the upcoming game? The minimum and recommended hardware requirements are now available on Steam, and are provided below. However, Capcom warns that players who meet the minimum requirements may have to adjust a few settings to run the game at a constant 30 frames per second when set at a 1080p resolution. To optimize performance, these players should lower the texture resolution or set streaming textures to the “Off” position.

Here are the system requirements:

As mentioned, the game provides a first-person perspective, a departure from the franchise’s third-person viewpoint used since the very beginning in 1996. Capcom has rolled out numerous installments since then, consisting of games within the numbering sequence along with additional zombie romps like Resident Evil Outbreak, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, Resident Evil: Revelations, and so on. This latest release scheduled for January will be game number 25 in the franchise.

“The RE Engine was specifically designed with the development of Resident Evil 7 in mind,” Capcom states. “With this engine, we can produce photorealistic results and display objects of various textures, right down to the smallest of details. Resident Evil 7 is only the first step on the path to creating more photorealistic games and immersive worlds.”

Capcom currently provides a playable demo, but it’s only offered on the PlayStation 4 console. Called “Beginning Hour,” players wake up on the floor of the abandoned farmhouse. The sun is setting, and players must find their way out. Thanks to the new first-person perspective, these players will have a more “personal” experience as they creep through the darkening rooms and hallways, searching for the coveted exit.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC. Note that the minimum and recommended hardware requirements for the PC version could change before the game hits shelves in January, so keep an eye on the game’s listing on Steam just in case.

Google Research suggests AI models like DeepSeek exhibit collective intelligence patterns

The paper, published on arXiv with the evocative title Reasoning Models Generate Societies of Thought, posits that these models don't merely compute; they implicitly simulate a "multi-agent" interaction. Imagine a boardroom full of experts tossing ideas around, challenging each other's assumptions, and looking at a problem from different angles before finally agreeing on the best answer. That is essentially what is happening inside the code. The researchers found that these models exhibit "perspective diversity," meaning they generate conflicting viewpoints and work to resolve them internally, much like a team of colleagues debating a strategy to find the best path forward.
