Some users who have installed March’s monthly Windows 10 cumulative update are reporting that they have subsequently not been able to print properly, with the computer showing the so-called blue screen of death instead.

Specifically, the issue appears to be impacting printers from Kyocera, Ricoh, and Zebra. After the latest KB5000802 update is installed, sending a file to print on these printers is causing Windows 10 to show the blue screen of death and the error code  “APC_INDEX_MISMATCH for win32kfull.sys.”

The errorrefers to a mismatched driver and happens when printing from Notepad, Microsoft Word, and other system apps. This means it doesn’t appear to be linked to a specific program or when not printing in Windows.

Microsoft has acknowledged these issues, but the timing for a fix isn’t known. The support page for the KB5000802 update mentions that the company is aware of concerns. “We are presently investigating and will provide an update when more information is available,” notes Microsoft.

This issue is well-documented on Reddit, as picked up by the blog Windows Latest. Windows users are also discussing the issue on a Microsoft Answers page. However, as there are over 1 billion Windows 10 devices in the world, the true scope and range of the problem aren’t known.

If you’re having issues with this update, it might be best to try to uninstall it from your computer. Those in the Reddit thread and others experiencing issues report that this might solve the problem. Just be aware that the KB5000802 update in question also comes with key security patches and bug fixes for Windows 10. Uninstalling it might put your computer at risk.

If you choose to uninstall the update that is causing these issues, you can do this by clicking the Start Menu, choosing the Settings icon, then heading into Update and security. From there, click  and then click Uninstall Updates. You’ll then want to find and click the update in the list, followed by Uninstall. Your computer will then reboot and remove the problematic update.
