If you only see advertisements for games on TV and the internet, you might think that the best PS5 games are targeted at older teens and young adults. Everywhere you look are FPS games or RPGs featuring a knight with a bloody sword. However, just because they don’t get the same marketing push as these more mature games, there are still plenty of games appropriate for all ages, kids included, coming out every year. The PlayStation 5 alone is home to some of the most kid-friendly franchises on the market, thanks to adorable mascot characters and plenty of smaller, colorful titles that offer a wide range of gameplay possibilities.

If you’re looking for a game for kids, the sheer number of possibilities can be intimidating. You could spend hours sifting through all the current and upcoming PS5 games, and even if you go by the age rating, that won’t tell you if the game is actually good or not. That’s why we’ve curated this list of the best PS5 games for kids to help you find the right game for gamers of any age. We’ve made sure to include games from a variety of genres, styles, and lengths to give you the best information possible before making a purchase. Just remember to still check on the details of a game’s ESRB rating to see what content is included.

With a name like Cat Quest 3, you know this is going to be an adorable and friendly adventure. Set in the Purribean, Cat Quest 3 is a pirate-themed action RPG where you play as a young cat exploring the world by boat and land to take on quests. Every character and every adventure is lighthearted and filled with cat puns. The combat is also very tame and no worse than a cartoon as your little cat smacks other pirate-themed animals with a few weapons and spells before poofing into a cloud of dust. This game does have some RPG elements, so reading and navigating menus is a big component. Whether played alone or together, though, Cat Quest 3 is a blast.

The hook is familiar, your choices matter, people notice, and consequences linger. The difference is scale. This is a fully open world take, with townsfolk on routines who respond to what you do, even when you think no one’s watching. It’s still chasing that mix of heroics, petty crime, and dry British humor, only with modern action RPG muscle.

Nintendo’s latest product wants to cheer you up with random quips

Nintendo first teased the Talking Flower during a Nintendo Direct showcase last September. The company has now shared more details about the product, and confirmed when it will officially go on sale. Based on the flowers in the Super Mario Bros. Wonder game, the Talking Flower is exactly what its name suggests: a potted flower that speaks around twice per hour, delivering lines like "Sometimes it's nice to space out" or "Bowser and his buds can't get us here, right?"
