Mac owners will finally get their chance to play one of the best open-world RPGs in recent years when Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition hits the Mac App Store on Thursday, July 17. Alongside the core game, all its updates, and DLC, this new version will take full advantage of Apple silicon technologies and brand new spatial audio to make it the definitive way to play.
After an initially rocky launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has managed to pull off an impressive redemption story through major bug fixes, performance updates, and a huge Phantom Liberty DLC paired with its 2.0 version. The game will hit version 2.3 alongside the Mac release and has fully delivered on the rich storytelling and visually impressive world CD Projekt Red promised. However, one thing no one predicted was Mac support. Now, CD Project Red has not only brought the hit RPG to Macs, but fully optimized the experience for that hardware.
Available starting Thursday, July 17 on the Mac App Store, Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store, Mac users will be treated to a “For this Mac” graphical preset that will automatically select the best graphics settings for any Apple Silicon Mac, ranging from M1 to the M4 family of chips, so long as they have 16GB or more of unified memory. This means the game will be optimized for a host of Mac devices, including the new iMac, MacBook Air, Mac mini, MacBook Pro, and Mac Studio with M3 Ultra. Depending on your Mac, players can expect MetalFX upscaling, AMD FSR upscaling and frame generation, HDR optimized for Apple XDR displays, and more. As good as Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will look on Mac, it is also going to sound amazing. Those with AirPods can enjoy exclusive spatial audio with head tracking support to offer an even greater level of immersion.
And if you’ve already experienced Cyberpunk 2077 before on another platform, you can download it for free on your Mac and can take advantage of cross-platform support to carry your save over from any other platform.
This is the latest example of Mac pushing to be a more recognized gaming platform after adding major new releases like Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, and Resident Evil 4.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will arrive on the Mac App Store on Thursday, July 17.
The Call of Duty franchise has held a special place in my heart ever since I played my first Black Ops game back in 2010. That game's campaign was something else, with twists and turns that culminated in a mind-blowing finale. We can all admit that compared to those older campaigns, the recent CODs have been lackluster at best, and a complete and utter disappointment at worst. The reboot of Modern Warfare did give me some hope, as the first two installments were actually quite good, but the third game left such a bad taste in my mouth that I wasn’t exactly expecting much from Modern Warfare 4.
After recently finishing the campaign, I can say that this installment is nothing like the recent releases and instead feels closer to the franchise’s roots. For the first time in a long while, the campaign comes across as well-crafted rather than rushed to hit a release date. It arrives three years after MW3, and you can see exactly where all that time went. It seems the studio finally made listening to player feedback a priority.
Epic Games has just announced the 2026 Epic AI MegaJam, which is looking to see how much game development can be squeezed into a very short window. This is running from November 12 through November 15.
Participants can work alone or in teams of up to five people, build in Unreal Engine or Unreal Editor for Fortnite, and bring along “as many AI agents as you want.” Epic explicitly encourages coding agents, AI-generated assets, audio tools, writing tools, and other AI systems. The official event page literally says "Vibe your way to $50k.”
It’s turning into a pretty good time to be a Monster Hunter fan who plays on a phone. Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter Outlanders will launch on Android and iOS on October 29, giving the series a new mobile-first game just as Monster Hunter Rise is also preparing to make the jump to smartphones through Netflix.
Outlanders is being developed by Tencent subsidiary TiMi Studio Group under license and supervision from Capcom. Unlike Rise, which appears to be the full console and PC game adapted for mobile, Outlanders is a free-to-play survival hunting game made specifically for phones.
