Face the ‘Destiny 2’ Trials of the Nine PVP challenge at 10 a.m. PT today

Bungie has teased the Trials of the Nine Crucible event for 'Destiny 2', replacing the weekly Trials of Osiris from the first game. The inaugural Trials of the Nine launches today, September 15, at 10 a.m. PT.

Destiny 2 developer Bungie has released a brief teaser video for the Trials of the Nine Crucible PVP event, which launches today, September 15, at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. The word “Teaser” is accurate in this case (as opposed to some more liberal usages of the word lately), as the 17-second video just shows three circular glyphs on a dark background. “Enter the Trials of the Nine to face your fellow Guardians in high intensity Crucible combat,” reads the teaser video’s description. “Stand together and be judged. Succeed and be rewarded!”

Trials of the Nine replaces the weekly Trials of Osiris Crucible event from the first Destiny, so we can assume it will work somewhat similarly. That was a PVP elimination tournament that ran every weekend. Guardians entered by purchasing a Trials Passage from Brother Vance for 500 Glimmer, which would also serve to record their progress in the Trials. There was no matchmaking, so Guardians had to form their own Fireteams to enter. Unlike conventional Crucible matches, level advantages were still active in the Trials of Osiris. Guardians also had to complete a mission in order to access the Trials, so presumably there will be a bit of in-game narrative here as well to introduce players to the eponymous Nine.

Similar to the Arena in Hearthstone, lose three times and your run is over, forcing you to purchase another Trials Passage if you wish to compete again. The more wins you logged before that, however, the greater your rewards. Five wins earned you a piece of armor, and seven a weapon, all special for the event. A perfect run of nine wins and no losses would earn you passage to the Lighthouse, a special area on Mercury with particularly good and rare loot. There’s also a system of special coins that can be earned in the trials and used to modify the stats on your Passage.

We’ll be playing the Trials of Nine alongside you when it launches, and almost certainly publishing a guide once we’ve mastered its intricacies, so stay tuned. In the meantime you can get ready by studying up with our beginner’s, power leveling, and Crucible guides.

Imagine tapping a Zelda icon on your iPhone and jumping straight into Hyrule. A new open-source project called nxnative makes that possible by repackaging Switch games you’ve bought into apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with no emulator in the middle.

Why does this run so well on Apple devices?

The Call of Duty franchise has held a special place in my heart ever since I played my first Black Ops game back in 2010. That game's campaign was something else, with twists and turns that culminated in a mind-blowing finale. We can all admit that compared to those older campaigns, the recent CODs have been lackluster at best, and a complete and utter disappointment at worst. The reboot of Modern Warfare did give me some hope, as the first two installments were actually quite good, but the third game left such a bad taste in my mouth that I wasn’t exactly expecting much from Modern Warfare 4.

After recently finishing the campaign, I can say that this installment is nothing like the recent releases and instead feels closer to the franchise’s roots. For the first time in a long while, the campaign comes across as well-crafted rather than rushed to hit a release date. It arrives three years after MW3, and you can see exactly where all that time went. It seems the studio finally made listening to player feedback a priority.

Epic Games has just announced the 2026 Epic AI MegaJam, which is looking to see how much game development can be squeezed into a very short window. This is running from November 12 through November 15.

Participants can work alone or in teams of up to five people, build in Unreal Engine or Unreal Editor for Fortnite, and bring along “as many AI agents as you want.” Epic explicitly encourages coding agents, AI-generated assets, audio tools, writing tools, and other AI systems. The official event page literally says "Vibe your way to $50k.”
