With E3 2016 now over, it’s time to take a look at which games won the hearts of critics at this year’s show.
Every year game critics come together to decide on which games should be worthy of praise at E3, and this year Nintendo took home the gold with just one game.
Of the 17 categories, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild took home three awards, including Best of Show. It’s no surprise, considering the amount of content Nintendo revealed. Not only did the company show off a brand new trailer, but it also gave an extensive gameplay demonstration going into every nook and cranny the game had to offer. The result was that this was the most talked about reveal at this year’s E3 by a mile.
Currently Nintendo is prepping the launch of its next gaming console, currently code-named the NX. Because of this, Nintendo decided to focus mostly on Breath of the Wild. Much like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild too will release on two systems, the Wii U and NX.
Beyond Nintendo, some other big names took home awards too. This included Horizon Zero Dawn for Best Original Game, Final Fantasy XV for Best Role Playing Game, and Battlefield 1 for best Action Game. The full list of award winners can be found below.
