How to fix ‘servers at capacity’ error in Helldivers 2

Are you seeing the dreaded servers at capacity pop-up when trying to play Helldivers 2? We feel your pain. Is there a solution? Not quite.

Now that we’ve been fighting for democracy for over a year, we can safely say that Helldivers 2 is a ton of fun to play, but the game isn’t without its small list of issues. While it was far more common in the first few months after launch, we do still get hit with that annoying “servers at capacity” error from time to time. Even though Helldivers 2 never came to Xbox, a lot of updates, patches, and content have been added to the game so one would hope this issue would have a solution at this point, right? After hundreds of hours fighting for Super Earth, we’re here to deliver you the news about how to fix the servers at capacity error in Helldivers 2.

No matter how much the game has improved over time, this is one error in Helldivers 2 that you have no power over. This issue falls on the game being just too popular for the game’s servers to keep up with. It is somewhat of a double-edged sword to say that since the Helldivers 2 craze has died down quite a bit over a year later, with only the hardcore players like us still fighting the good fight, it isn’t all that likely anymore for the servers to be at capacity.

In the rare instance, you do run into this issue, you can try to restart the game, reset your internet connection, or simply wait for the issue to clear up. Sadly, nothing else we have tried has produced any results.

Next to bottlenecked server traffic, another issue that many Helldivers 2 players have encountered is the game just totally crashing. Any PC gamer can relate to how infuriating this can be, but there are a few things you can do on your end to improve performance.

First and foremost, you’ll want to make sure your PC is optimized for Helldivers 2. To this end, you’ll want to make sure your graphics drivers are up to date, and the same goes for your OS. It’s also not a bad idea to check to see what background processes may be occurring on your PC without you even knowing. The less going on while you’re playing Helldivers, the better.

Lowering the game’s graphical settings and doing away with mods is another way to get the game running smoother. You’ll also want to make sure you’re up to date on all your developer patches for Helldivers 2.

Many Helldivers 2 players have encountered a strange issue when launching the game. Instead of startup menus, players receive a black screen with no options on it. As it stands, developers are saying the cause of this issue is launching the game in fullscreen mode. Until an official patch arrives, some players have had success with a couple of workarounds.

One option is to stay put on the black screen for several minutes. There’s a chance it may disappear, putting you right on the main menu, where you were supposed to be all along. You can also modify the game to never launch in fullscreen mode.

To do so, you’ll need to edit the “user_settings.config” file. You can find this config element under “C:\Users\User-Name\AppData\Roaming\Arrowhead\Helldivers2.”

Imagine tapping a Zelda icon on your iPhone and jumping straight into Hyrule. A new open-source project called nxnative makes that possible by repackaging Switch games you’ve bought into apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with no emulator in the middle.

Why does this run so well on Apple devices?

The Call of Duty franchise has held a special place in my heart ever since I played my first Black Ops game back in 2010. That game's campaign was something else, with twists and turns that culminated in a mind-blowing finale. We can all admit that compared to those older campaigns, the recent CODs have been lackluster at best, and a complete and utter disappointment at worst. The reboot of Modern Warfare did give me some hope, as the first two installments were actually quite good, but the third game left such a bad taste in my mouth that I wasn’t exactly expecting much from Modern Warfare 4.

After recently finishing the campaign, I can say that this installment is nothing like the recent releases and instead feels closer to the franchise’s roots. For the first time in a long while, the campaign comes across as well-crafted rather than rushed to hit a release date. It arrives three years after MW3, and you can see exactly where all that time went. It seems the studio finally made listening to player feedback a priority.

Epic Games has just announced the 2026 Epic AI MegaJam, which is looking to see how much game development can be squeezed into a very short window. This is running from November 12 through November 15.

Participants can work alone or in teams of up to five people, build in Unreal Engine or Unreal Editor for Fortnite, and bring along “as many AI agents as you want.” Epic explicitly encourages coding agents, AI-generated assets, audio tools, writing tools, and other AI systems. The official event page literally says "Vibe your way to $50k.”
