Horizon Forbidden West is PS5’s first pack-in game

PlayStation 5's first official bundle includes one of 2022's biggest games.

Sony has quietly released its first official PlayStation 5 bundle, which comes packing a voucher for this year’s first-party hit Horizon Forbidden West.

The bundle has already been released in the U.K. under two SKUs — one for the standard console with a disc drive and one for the all-digital version hardware — but it has been spotted on the PlayStation Direct store in the U.S., so it should be available for purchase in the near future.

No price has been shared for the bundle quite yet, but considering the pack-in game, it’s assumed to land around $550 for the standard edition and $500 for the digital edition. Regardless of which version is purchased, however, Horizon Forbidden West comes exclusively as a digital voucher, so don’t expect a physical disc inside the box.

Retailers have been bundling the PlayStation 5 with various games and accessories since the console’s launch in late 2020 in an attempt to capitalize on limited stock. With the Horizon Forbidden West pack-in bundle, though, Sony is clearly taking its own approach to the process in hopes of providing a little extra value for those looking to pick up its newest hardware alongside Guerrilla Game’s popular action-adventure title.

Horizon Forbidden West was largely well-received when it launched in February of this year, but the launch of Elden Ring soon after put it in a tricky spot in terms of maintaining post-release hype. Nevertheless, our review praised the game for its improved combat, gorgeous visuals, and detailed side-quest structure, which “establishes the Horizon franchise as a power player in Sony’s first-party arsenal.”

Imagine tapping a Zelda icon on your iPhone and jumping straight into Hyrule. A new open-source project called nxnative makes that possible by repackaging Switch games you’ve bought into apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with no emulator in the middle.

Why does this run so well on Apple devices?

The Call of Duty franchise has held a special place in my heart ever since I played my first Black Ops game back in 2010. That game's campaign was something else, with twists and turns that culminated in a mind-blowing finale. We can all admit that compared to those older campaigns, the recent CODs have been lackluster at best, and a complete and utter disappointment at worst. The reboot of Modern Warfare did give me some hope, as the first two installments were actually quite good, but the third game left such a bad taste in my mouth that I wasn’t exactly expecting much from Modern Warfare 4.

After recently finishing the campaign, I can say that this installment is nothing like the recent releases and instead feels closer to the franchise’s roots. For the first time in a long while, the campaign comes across as well-crafted rather than rushed to hit a release date. It arrives three years after MW3, and you can see exactly where all that time went. It seems the studio finally made listening to player feedback a priority.

Epic Games has just announced the 2026 Epic AI MegaJam, which is looking to see how much game development can be squeezed into a very short window. This is running from November 12 through November 15.

Participants can work alone or in teams of up to five people, build in Unreal Engine or Unreal Editor for Fortnite, and bring along “as many AI agents as you want.” Epic explicitly encourages coding agents, AI-generated assets, audio tools, writing tools, and other AI systems. The official event page literally says "Vibe your way to $50k.”
