At this point, it’s no secret that the iconic “King of all Monsters” won’t be the only monstrous threat in director Gareth Edwards’ upcoming Godzilla blockbuster, but the latest trailer for the film offers quite a few more shots of the massive creatures that will be wreaking havoc on various cities.

In addition to some up-close shots of Godzilla batting away fighter jets and other military vehicles like they were toys, the footage offers a nice peek at a winged monster that looks quite a bit like Rodan, the mutated pterosaur that has battled with Godzilla at various points in their cinematic history, and received its own solo film in 1956 during the height of the giant-monster craze. There are also a few shots of some gigantic, hook-like appendages that definitely don’t belong to Godzilla mashing up a road and otherwise tearing apart a city.

Compared to previous trailers, this new edit seems a bit more focused on the monsters not named Godzilla, both the threat they present and the notion that their destructive battle may play out as a result of humanity’s hubris — a theme which was well-represented in the 1954 film that started it all, Godzilla (or as it’s known outside the U.S., Gojira).

The new trailer, which was created to promote the film throughout Asia, also features Oscar-nominated Japanese actor Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) quite prominently in his role as Ichiro Serizawa — a role that harkens back to the 1954 film. In the original Godzilla , a character named Daisuke Serizawa (played by Akihiko Hirata) played a key role in ending Godzilla’s rampage, but it’s uncertain whether Watanabe will be playing a variation of the same character or creating a link to the past as one of his heirs.

Godzilla hits theaters May 16.
