Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl adds voice acting and items

Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl is adding voice acting and items with a major free update.

Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl has dropped plenty of updates adding new characters to the Smash Bros-esque title. The latest addition coming in a free update today brings one of the most wanted features to the cartoon crossover fighter: Voice acting for all its characters.

Our next major FREE update is here – and it's a big one! We're super excited to announce that voice acting and items are available TODAY on PC, @Xbox and @Playstation. @Nintendo Switch coming soon! #NickBrawl pic.twitter.com/nTLK5T6zEG

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl released to a mixed reception from players and critics. While we enjoyed the game in our review, we had complaints about its lack of content. The missing features list included voice acting, which is finally coming with the latest update.

The game’s developer, Ludosity, posted a list showing off all the voice actors joining the fray to lend their talent to the production. Cartoon fans will find tons of familiar names in the listing.

We hope everyone enjoys the impeccable voice talent that these incredible individuals are able to bring to the table: pic.twitter.com/oRwGNtKQK9

Items are now in the game, which is a major change for the title. All-Star Brawl may be a Smash Bros-inspired game but it launched without that core gameplay system. Players can now dive in and use Nickelodeon-inspired tools to take down their opponents.

Items and voice acting aren’t the only additions coming with today’s free update. Ludosity confirmed that a balance patch and a few bug fixes are a part of the package as well. Those updates come alongside the game’s latest character, Jenny “XJ8” Wakeman from My Life as a Teenage Robot.

This isn’t the last update coming to Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl. Future DLC characters like Rocko of Rocko’s Modern Life fame are set to join at a later date. Players can expect more balance updates and possibly more stages to come with these future additions.

Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl is available for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers this month. Players can get in on the fresh additions for the game today with its free update.

Acer’s Predator Atlas 8 finally has a US release date and price, several months after the company first showed off the handheld in May. The highlight is the Intel Arc G3 Extreme chip inside, which has been adopted by only a couple of other consoles besides the Atlas 8. This version will go on sale exclusively at Best Buy on November 1 for $1,299.99.

Acer originally said the Atlas 8 would arrive in North America in October, but left pricing open at the time. The launch came amid the ongoing DRAM crunch, which has made memory more expensive across the PC industry and complicated pricing for hardware makers.

Gaming laptops and I have a complicated relationship. One of my first gaming rigs was an Acer Predator that was already outdated when I bought it. I was a broke college kid, and that was the best I could afford. So trying out high-end gaming laptops is always fun. But ASUS' ROG Zephyrus G14 is a lot more than a laptop that can run AAA games. It is portable, so you're not lugging around a 2.5kg machine everywhere you go. It is built well, none of that plastic chassis, and can even function as a normal laptop outside of just gaming.

Google Play is borrowing one of the Nintendo Switch’s most useful little tricks. A new Sidekick tool called Playbacks captures a short clip after something interesting has already happened, sparing players from running a screen recorder throughout an entire game.

Playbacks is part of Google Play Store v53.8 and keeps saved clips on the phone. Google first announced it earlier this month, but the new Play Store update marks its arrival for players. Anyone who has watched a perfect win vanish because the record button came too late already understands the appeal.
