SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake got a new gameplay trailer during THQ Nordic’s 2022 digital showcase, giving a better sense of how the platformer plays.
The game follows SpongeBob and Balloon-Patrick as they get their hands on fortune teller Kassandra’s Mermaid’s Tears, which have the ability to grant wishes. They both make a few wishes and as a result, the fabric of the universe falls apart. SpongeBob and Patrick are able to travel to seven areas called Wishworlds, including the Prehistoric Kelp Forest, Wild West Jellyfish Fields, and Halloween Rock Bottom.
The gameplay trailer shows SpongeBob and Patrick traversing through the different worlds and their platforming sections. There’s even a seahorse that SpongeBob can ride, much like how other games, such as Elden Ring, have rideable horses.
Throughout the game, there are plenty of homages to the TV show. SpongeBob can channel his karate spirit and kick enemies, as well as put on costumes including SnailBob and SpongeGar. The characters in the game are voiced by their original voice actors from the show.
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake was first announced in September 2021 Unfortunately, THQ Nordic didn’t announce a release date just yet for the game. Earlier today, two online retailers, Cultura and ShopTo, inadvertently revealed a potential release date for it as January 24, 2023.
A January 24 release would put the game right in the middle of an increasingly packed start for the next year. The Dead Space remake releases the day before on January 23. Forspoken would share the same launch day as our spongey friend, assuming it won’t be delayed again, as it has already been twice.

For years, Call of Duty’s campaign mode has used big, scripted set pieces to tell the overarching story amid all the adrenaline-pumping action. The 2023 Modern Warfare 3 tried to shake up the established formula by introducing a handful of short open combat missions, and I genuinely liked the idea, but the game's overall negative reception seeped into how those missions were received.
I feared the next iteration might abandon the idea because of the backlash, but I am glad it didn't. MW4’s “Stranded” mission uses the same approach, but instead of fragmenting it across the campaign, it puts it all in a single large-scale open-world mission.
Acer’s Predator Atlas 8 finally has a US release date and price, several months after the company first showed off the handheld in May. The highlight is the Intel Arc G3 Extreme chip inside, which has been adopted by only a couple of other consoles besides the Atlas 8. This version will go on sale exclusively at Best Buy on November 1 for $1,299.99.
Acer originally said the Atlas 8 would arrive in North America in October, but left pricing open at the time. The launch came amid the ongoing DRAM crunch, which has made memory more expensive across the PC industry and complicated pricing for hardware makers.
