Xbox Game Pass has had a wild year of ups and downs. While the introduction of new tiers with different game offerings has made subscribing a more confusing process, lots of fantastic games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 have still come to the service the day they released. Over the past couple of weeks, we saw the launch of the last few of 2024’s day one Xbox Game Pass titles. These range from early access indies to a new Indiana Jones game from the developer of the Wolfenstein series. The last major Xbox exclusive release of the year, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, is a first-person action-adventure game based on the iconic Lucasfilm series. Wolfenstein: The New Order and The New Colossus developer MachineGames managed to create a licensed game that still retains a unique gameplay identity, infusing puzzle game and immersive sim gameplay elements into what easily could’ve been an Uncharted knockoff. If you’ve ever enjoyed an Indiana Jones film and are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, then Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a game you should definitely check out.

If you’ve been looking for a new card game roguelike hybrid to kill some time with as we wait for Slay the Spire 2, then Wildfrost is a good option. Wildfrost takes that tried and true roguelike setup and applies it to tactical RPG combat centered around controlling the countdown timer of when your enemies can attack next. When you create the perfect deck to stall enemies and deal a ton of damage, Wildfrost is as satisfying as the best card games out there. It finally came to Game Pass alongside the release of its Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S port, so now is a great time to try out Wildfrost if you’ve never played it before.
The PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S versions of Wildfrost are now available to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. It’s also on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
If you’re a fan of survival games, then you’ll want to check out Overthrown. This Xbox Game Preview title from Brimstone and Maximum Entertainment has the same core loop as most games of its style, as players have to work together to gather resources and then build towns they can defend and farm in. Overthrown stands out because of the visual flourishes it gives its mechanics, like being able to dash at really fast speeds or chuck almost any object you find very far. If you’re getting a little burnt out on other games of this ilk, Overthrown is a solid alternative you can follow throughout development on Game Pass.

The Call of Duty franchise has held a special place in my heart ever since I played my first Black Ops game back in 2010. That game's campaign was something else, with twists and turns that culminated in a mind-blowing finale. We can all admit that compared to those older campaigns, the recent CODs have been lackluster at best, and a complete and utter disappointment at worst. The reboot of Modern Warfare did give me some hope, as the first two installments were actually quite good, but the third game left such a bad taste in my mouth that I wasn’t exactly expecting much from Modern Warfare 4.
After recently finishing the campaign, I can say that this installment is nothing like the recent releases and instead feels closer to the franchise’s roots. For the first time in a long while, the campaign comes across as well-crafted rather than rushed to hit a release date. It arrives three years after MW3, and you can see exactly where all that time went. It seems the studio finally made listening to player feedback a priority.
Epic Games has just announced the 2026 Epic AI MegaJam, which is looking to see how much game development can be squeezed into a very short window. This is running from November 12 through November 15.
Participants can work alone or in teams of up to five people, build in Unreal Engine or Unreal Editor for Fortnite, and bring along “as many AI agents as you want.” Epic explicitly encourages coding agents, AI-generated assets, audio tools, writing tools, and other AI systems. The official event page literally says "Vibe your way to $50k.”
It’s turning into a pretty good time to be a Monster Hunter fan who plays on a phone. Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter Outlanders will launch on Android and iOS on October 29, giving the series a new mobile-first game just as Monster Hunter Rise is also preparing to make the jump to smartphones through Netflix.
Outlanders is being developed by Tencent subsidiary TiMi Studio Group under license and supervision from Capcom. Unlike Rise, which appears to be the full console and PC game adapted for mobile, Outlanders is a free-to-play survival hunting game made specifically for phones.
