Launching at the Apple Store recently, Qardioarm is a “clinically validated” medical device that lets users check their blood pressure and heart rate as well as transfer that data into the Apple Health app. Approved by the FDA, the Qardioarm connects to devices like an iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch over Bluetooth in order to provide a real-time view of a user’s blood pressure.

Specifically, the Qardioarm tracks any irregular heartbeats as well as provide a real-time view of heart rate in addition to both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. According to Qardio, Inc., the Qardioarm was the first medical device to link with the Apple Watch as well as the first device to link with Apple Health. Weighing under 11 ounces, the device is small enough for travel and requires 4 AAA batteries to operate.

Speaking about the launch at Apple stores around the world, Chief Business Officer Alexis Zervoglos said “We are very happy to extend our working relationship with Apple into retail. Of course, this isn’t the first medical device to launch on the Apple Store. A competing product, the Withings Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor, also monitors blood pressure over time, but is sold at a higher price point. Other medical products on the Apple Store include the iHealth Wireless Blood Glucometer, the Wahoo TICKR X Heart Rate Monitor and multiple smart thermometers from companies like Kinsa and Swaive.
