Whoopi Goldberg, the pro-pot co-host of The View has founded a new line of medical marijuana products with Maya Elisabeth, the award-winning founder of Om Edibles. Called “Whoopi & Maya,” the pot line will begin with products specifically for women. The aim is to offer “alternative” pain management options for that difficult time of the month.

Goldberg said in a release, “The only products available to us were filled with ingredients we couldn’t even pronounce and I discovered that I was not alone in this. When I looked further, I learned that this area was considered a ‘niche’ … a ‘niche’ that includes half of the population!”

The first offerings will be a topical balm, a raw sipping chocolate, a tincture, and a bath soak, all of which are THC or CBD infused to reduce the pain and cramps associated with PMS and menstruation. She said, “This was all inspired by my own experience from a lifetime of difficult periods and the fact that cannabis was literally the only thing that gave me relief.”

With the announcement yesterday, Goldberg joins the ranks of Bob Marley’s family and Snoop Dogg; each back their own cannabis lines. She wrote a couple columns, on marijuana detailing her love for her own vape pen dubbed “Sippy,” explaining, “Mostly it’s just [Sippy] and I working through my pain. And her ability to help me live comfortably with glaucoma makers her one of the more important figures in my day to day.” Based on that this is a natural step, but these products aren’t about getting high. As Goldberg told Vanity Fair, “this is a product specifically just to get rid of discomfort … Smoking a joint is fine, but most people can’t smoke a joint and go to work.”

The products will only be available to people with medical marijuana cards. The Blum dispensary in Oakland, Alternative Herbal Health Services, CBCB, and the C.R.A.F.T. Collective delivery service will be the first to carry Whoopi & Maya. Tokers should expect to see them on shelves for the first time in the next few weeks. There’s no word on pricing yet. Unfortunately, since marijuana remains illegal by federal legislation, expansion to other locations hasn’t been disclosed.
