Today, Netatmo announced its new Smart Video Doorbell. The Netatmo Video Doorbell has the features to compete with some of the biggest names on the market, allowing users to see and interact with visitors from afar. When someone rings the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell, the user will receive a video call on their phone that allows them to see who is at their door. And just like any other video doorbell camera, no matter where the user is, they can talk to visitors.

Where the Netatmo Video Doorbell truly excels is in home security. Thanks to its advanced artificial intelligence (A.I.) algorithms, the doorbell can distinguish between someone passing in front of your door and someone lurking just out of sight. If this happens, the doorbell will send you a “person detected” notification and a video of the event.

The built-in microphone and loudspeaker can be used to call out to the person and warn them away from your home. It helps provide peace of mind and added security to the front of your home.

In addition to its security features, the Netatmo Video Doorbell’s settings are fully customizable. You can disable notifications and video recording according to your preferences; for example, you can change the settings so you only receive alerts if someone rings the doorbell, not if someone sets off the motion sensor.

There are also Alert-Zones which allow you to set specific detection areas. Not only does this provide more customization for your doorbell, but it helps prevent false alarms due to someone walking down the sidewalk in front of your home.

There are no subscription fees required to use any of the features, including video storage. All of the doorbell’s call history and videos are saved locally on an internal microSD card, and can then be transferred to an FTP or Dropbox account. This sets it apart from other solutions because most premium features, like advanced detection through A.I., are usually enabled through a subscription service.

The Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell replaces your existing doorbell and connects to your home’s Wi-Fi network. It uses a 1080p camera with 140-degree wide-angle lenses and is HDR capable to account for differences in lighting. It is also HomeKit compatible, making it one of only a few on the market, and comes after the Logitech Circle View Doorbell announced not too long ago.

The Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell retails for $300 and will be available online starting January 6, 2021. Preorders start today.
