Beats’ Solo3 headphones are one of the brand’s most popular models, and we’ve seen prices drop considerably over the past several months. Walmart is the latest to cut its prices on the headphones, with select colors of now nearly half off retail, and cheaper than even just a week ago.
Currently, the Gloss White and Rose Gold Solo3s are on sale on the site for just $160. Other models are $179 (still a good price), including the blue and indigo color options.

If you’re looking for more color options, we’ve spotted a few additional options on Amazon , but they’re $179.
It’s not clear why we’re seeing such substantial discounts, or whether or not Beats might be preparing a fourth-generation model. The Solo3’s have been out for about three years now, and competitors are catching up and improving their offerings, so it’s possible.
But we haven’t heard anything and would be surprised to see anything at Apple’s September iPhone event if that’s the case. Now would be the time since the holiday shopping season is right around the corner, however.
While not the best headphones available on the market, Beats headphones have become considerably better under the Apple umbrella. Apple’s W1 chip gives the Solo3’s an impressive 40-hour battery life. Sound quality is decent, with punchy and resonant bass, making the Solo3 and excellent choice for hip-hop and electronic fans.
The mids and highs do sound a little flat, but for this kind of sound these days in a pair of Bluetooth headphones you’ll need to spend a bit. If you are willing to spend more, you’re likely going to be happier with a pair with noise-canceling technology in our opinion.
Beats does have such a pair, the Studio3, but the cheapest price we found on those were $189 refurbished and $280 new over on Amazon. If you don’t mind the fact that they’re used, those refurbished Studio3’s are a great deal. Keep in mind, however, that battery life is cut nearly in half from the Solo3’s, which may matter for those that use their headphones a lot.
