Despite all the uncertainty around electronics pricing and some recent price hikes, TVs are having a moment with the sales we’ve seen this week, so much so that we had to bring them to you, hopefully before they expire.
Just know that I’m not sure how long some of these deals will last or whether they’re tied to Labor Day Sales.
Either way, for all of you who ask about what to buy in our You Asked series each week, we thought it was a good idea to get the word out.
55-Inch TCL QM7K
The 55-inch TCL QM7K, one of the best values for your money, is more than 50 percent off at Best Buy, now priced at $600, down from $1,300.
If you want a feature-packed TV that can serve as your main set while staying on budget, this is a solid choice. It’s not the QM8K, but it is a significant step up from the QM6K in brightness and contrast.
At just $600, it’s a fantastic deal compared with other options on the market.
65-inch TCL QM8K
Now, about the QM8K—the deal that really stopped me in my tracks. At 65 inches, TCL doesn’t make the QM8K any smaller, but it’s currently available for $1,000, down from $2,500. That’s more than 50 percent off, making it an exceptional value.
Part of me is skeptical—did TCL ever intend to sell the QM8K for $2,500? I doubt it. Their model has always been to offer high-performing TVs at a much better price than Samsung or Sony, even when competing with their premium models.
Regardless, the QM8K is the buy of the weekend and potentially the year if the price sticks or returns during the holiday season. Interestingly, some TVs at Best Buy are marked with a Labor Day Deal tag, but the QM8K is not. So, while we can’t say how long this deal will last, it’s too good to pass up if you’re in the market for a 65-inch TV.
65-inch Hisense U8QG
If you’re familiar with TCL and Hisense, you know their pricing is often comparable for similar TVs. Next up is the Hisense U8, priced at $1,100—exactly 50 percent off its suggested retail price.
Like the QM8K, the U8QG is bright, feature-packed, and designed to compete with Samsung and Sony’s best LED TVs at a more affordable price.
The U8 doesn’t get as much attention because Hisense now offers the U9 above it, along with their TriChroma RGB Mini LED TV, which has stolen the spotlight. Still, the U8QG is a treasure to own and watch.
85-inch TCL QM6K
Want to go big? It’s more affordable than ever to get an 85-inch TV or larger. TCL has a great option, also at 50 percent off. The QM6K, which impressed us at 65 inches, is now $1,000—a fantastic price for a quantum dot Mini LED TV.
77-inch LG B5
Moving to OLED, prices are also near 50 percent off. For those who want a larger screen, the 77-inch LG B5 is down to $1,600 from $3,000. If you don’t need extreme brightness for a room with lots of light, the B5 delivers all the OLED quality you’d expect.
65-inch LG C5
If you need something brighter, the 65-inch LG C5 is significantly marked down at $1,500.
65-inch Samsung S90D
Finally, the lone 2024 model on this list is the 65-inch Samsung S90D, priced at $1,200. Its QD-OLED panel offers colors that surpass standard W-RGB OLEDs. Plus, if you prefer the traditional glossy finish over Samsung’s newer matte screens, the S90 series has you covered.
