If Alan Ritchson could play Batman, he would.
In an interview with Wired, the Reacher star was asked if he’s playing Batman.
“Would I play Batman? Yes,” Ritchson said. “Would I pay handsomely to be Batman? You wouldn’t even have to pay me to be Batman. I would don the suit.”
Ritchson even practiced his Batman voice and declared, “Gotham is mine.” The actor laughed and said, “Look at that. I don’t even have to practice. It just comes out naturally.”
Ritchson has been very open about his desire to play Bruce Wayne. In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ritchson explained that he loves the Batcave and that intelligence is Batman’s superpower.
“I would love to play Batman,” Ritchson told THR. “There, I said it. I’ll shout it from the rooftops. I want to be Bruce Wayne!”
Robert Pattinson currently plays the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ Batman Epic Crime Saga. However, Pattinson’s Batman is part of DC Elseworlds, not the shared DC Universe.
DC co-CEO James Gunn revealed that Pattinson would not play the DCU’s Batman, who debuted in Creature Commandos. Gunn will eventually cast the DCU’s Batman for The Brave and the Bold.
Unfortunately for Reacher fans, Gunn squashed the rumors that Ritchson would become Gotham’s top vigilante. Still, Ritchson admitted that fans continue to cast him as Batman despite Gunn’s remarks.
“What’s amazing to me about this rumor of the Batman or the Batman desire and the zeitgeist,” Ritchson told Wired, “is the fact that James Gunn has personally announced publicly on his Twitter or X or whatever, ‘Lol, he’s not playing Batman. He is not playing Batman!’ And this thing will not die.”
Those fans who want to see Ritchson defeat bad guys will have to stick to watching Reacher on Prime Video.
