Kevin James and Alan Ritchson’s new buddy comedy, Playdate, dropped onto Prime Video as the No. 1 film on the platform this month. In addition, John Candy: I Like Me and The Map That Leads to You are two recent Amazon originals that have remained popular on the service since premiering earlier this year.

The Prime Video vault is loaded with 2025 releases, including Black Bag, Novocaine, and Last Breath. It also features hits from previous years, including No Time to Die and Nosferatu. Explore this guide for some of our top Prime Video recommendations.

Playdate shows Brian Jennings (Kevin James) trying to adjust to life at home after losing his job. As his wife, Emily (Sarah Chalke), is busy working extra shifts, Brian is busy raising their son, Lucas (Benjamin Pajak), and helping him make new friends.

After arranging a playdate between Lucas and CJ (Banks Pierce), Brian and CJ’s father, Jeff (Alan Ritchson), end up fighting for their lives as they become targeted by mercenaries, proving that all work and no play doesn’t always make dull boys.

Novocaine follows mild-mannered bank executive Nathan Caine (Jack Quaid), who was born with a disorder that makes him unable to feel pain. After meeting Sherry (Amber Midthunder), the girl of his dreams, things finally seem to be looking up for Nathan as she helps him break out of his shell.

However, things turn bad when a group of robbers attacks his bank and takes Sherry hostage. Compelled to save Sherry, Nathan pursues the robbers, using his insensitivity to pain to fight his way through the streets of San Diego to reach his true love.

Nosferatu, director Robert Eggers’s acclaimed remake of the silent horror classic, follows Ellen Hutter (Lily-Rose Depp), a woman who has long been tormented by the fiendish vampire, Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård), after making a psychic connection with him. However, after marrying the real estate agent Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult), she seems to have finally broken free from her melancholic bond with Orlok.

However, the wicked Orlok refuses to let Ellen go. Purchasing a house in her town of Wisborg, the evil count summons Thomas to his ruined castle in Transylvania and traps him there. Orlok makes his way to Wisborg, bringing with him a relentless bloodlust and a plague that threatens to kill everyone Ellen holds dear unless she faces him head-on.

After winning big in its film festival circuit, John Candy: I Like Me premiered on Prime Video and became a hit with audiences. Directed by Colin Hanks and produced by Ryan Reynolds, this documentary explores the life of beloved actor and comedian John Candy.

Using never-before-seen archive footage, outtakes, and home videos, John Candy: I Like Me takes a unique look at Candy’s life, from his time on Second City Television and his work on films like Uncle Buck and Planes, Trains and Automobiles to his heartbreaking death in 1994. The film also features appearances from Dan Aykroyd, Mel Brooks, Macaulay Culkin, Tom Hanks, Eugene Levy, Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Conan O’Brien, Catherine O’Hara, and Martin Short.

No Time to Die is Daniel Craig’s final film as James Bond, and it has become a popular selection on Prime Video. The film begins with Agent 007 (Craig) parting ways with his love interest, Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), after an attack orchestrated by Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Christoph Waltz) fractures their relationship.

Five years later, Bond is tasked with stopping the vengeful Lyutsifer Safin (Rami Malek) from using a bioweapon to kill millions. Teaming up with Swann, MI6, and the CIA, Bond embarks on one last adventure that pushes him to his absolute limits.

Do not take Steven Soderbergh for granted. The Oscar winner loves experimenting with genre and always seems to find innovative ways to shoot movies. Earlier this year, Soderbergh helmed a tight and compact 94-minute espionage thriller in Black Bag.

Intelligence officer George Woodhouse (Michael Fassbender) must unearth a traitor who leaked classified information. George identifies five suspects, one of them being his wife and fellow intelligence officer, Kathryn (Cate Blanchett). Will George be willing to take out his wife if the mission calls for it?

Last Breath plays like an inspirational survival thriller from the ’90s. Based on the 2019 documentary, Last Breath introduces three divers — Chris Lemons (Finn Cole), Duncan Allcock (Woody Harrelson), and David Yuasa (Simu Liu) — who work to maintain gas lines 300 feet below sea level.

During one of the dives, a malfunction above the surface leads to chaos underwater, with Lemons being separated from the team. With only minutes of oxygen remaining in his suit, Lemons must hold on long enough for Allcock and Yuasa to rescue him. What happens next is truly unbelievable.

Outer Banks’ Madelyn Cline and Riverdale’s KJ Apa play two young lovers on a European excursion in The Map That Leads to You. While on a train with her two best friends, Heather (Cline) meets the handsome Jack (Apa). The two hit it off and embark on a journey to visit a list of places Jack’s grandfather wrote about in a journal.

As their time together comes to an end, Heather and Jack must decide whether their connection can survive while they are separated halfway across the world.

This iconic comedy film shows the members of Monty Python recreating the legend of King Arthur in the Middle Ages. The story follows Arthur (Graham Chapman) and his Knights of the Round Table, who are tasked by God to search for the Holy Grail.

Riding on their invisible horses with their clacking coconuts, Arthur and his warriors encounter such fearsome and bizarre foes as the French Taunter (John Cleese), the Knights Who Say “Ni,” and the killer Rabbit of Caerbannog. The film also features some hysterical moments, such as Arthur’s duel with the Black Knight, his encounter with two anarcho-syndicalist peasants, and the catchy musical number at Camelot.

One of the world’s most brilliant minds, who moonlights as a vigilante, returns for a sequel in The Accountant 2. Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is an accountant for some of the world’s most nefarious criminals. When the body of Raymond King (J.K. Simmons) is found with “find the accountant” on his arm, U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) asks Christian to help find the killer.

King was trying to track down a Salvadoran family and went to an assassin for help. Christian can’t do this job alone, so he recruits his mercenary brother Brax (Jon Bernthal) as backup. The ensuing investigation leads to an organization of killers who will do anything to keep their secrets buried. Unfortunately for this criminal ring, they are going up against two highly skilled soldiers in Christian and Brax.

The Tony Award-winning stage musical finally received its long-awaited feature film adaptation. Directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked follows the lives of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), a green-skinned introvert, and Galinda (Ariana Grande), the bubbly social butterfly. These two opposites form an unlikely friendship at Shiz University in the Land of Oz.

After a tumultuous meeting with the Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum), the two women go down different paths, as Elphaba becomes the Wicked Witch of the West and Galinda assumes the mantle of Glinda the Good. Wicked is the first of a two-part adaptation. Part two, Wicked: For Good, premieres in theaters on November 21, 2025.

Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) battles the dark world of AI in Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning. The Entity is an all-powerful AI capable of achieving world domination. Even the U.S. government doesn’t want Ethan and his team to succeed, because if America can control the Entity, then it will control the future.

All the other countries share the same mentality, but The Entity is the one truly in control. Its reach extends to the real world, where it forces Ethan to make life-and-death decisions. Ethan knows The Entity needs to be destroyed, but it may already be too late for that.

Years later, Javi lures Kate out of retirement to try her experiment again. While back in the field, Kate encounters a YouTube storm chaser, Tyler Owens (Powell), who has an outlaw mentality. When a tornado outbreak hits Oklahoma, it becomes a race to see who can wrangle these deadly twisters.

In Smile 2, Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) is a pop star on the verge of even greater stardom after recovering from drug addiction and a traumatic car accident. Skye finds herself plagued by a curse that puts creepy smiles on the faces of those around her. These people then go insane and hurt themselves.

The curse has a way of getting under people’s skins, and Skye is no exception. As the curse stalks, Skye rapidly loses the ability to tell what’s real and what isn’t.

In Challengers, Zendaya stars as Tashi Duncan, a rising tennis star romantically drawn to two other players: Patrick Zweig (Josh O’Connor) and Art Donaldson (Mike Faist). The young men want Tashi for themselves, but only one of them is willing to play dirty to get her.

Even when one of them wins Tashi’s heart, it doesn’t end the romantic entanglement between this trio, as their lives unfold and intersect over several years. Ultimately, the battle between these two men comes back to the place where it all began: the tennis court.
