Some of the biggest stars in the history of The Daily Show are converging on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. CBS announced Wednesday that Jon Stewart, Samantha Bee, John Oliver, Ed Helms, and Rob Corddry are all set to join their fellow alum on his show on May 9.
Colbert has had plenty of Daily Show vets join him in the Ed Sullivan Theater since he first sat down at the desk in September 2015. Stewart, in particular, has frequently popped up, starting with a cameo in the first episode and visiting most recently on February 27. He fit in multiple appearances in the time in between as well, notably during the 2016 presidential election.
Bee and Oliver have also visited The Late Show multiple times since Colbert became its host, though not nearly as many as Stewart. They are both busy hosting their respective late-night shows, unlike Stewart, who retired from The Daily Show in 2015. Bee hosts Full Frontal on TBS, and Oliver is the star of HBO’s Last Week Tonight.
The upcoming Daily Show reunion will be by far Colbert’s biggest gathering of alums. The group will celebrate Colbert’s 20 years in late-night television, which kicked off in 1997 when he became a Daily Show correspondent. After gaining a following with his satirical alter ego, the conservative political pundit Stephen Colbert, he went on to host The Colbert Report starting in 2005. After almost a decade doing the show, he was tapped to replace David Letterman as the host of The Late Show, and he took over in September 2015.
In spite of all the time that has passed, Colbert seems to have remained close to his former co-workers. We look forward to seeing the gang reunited on May 9.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
