Leading up to the release of Suicide Squad, there has been a lot of buzz about Jared Leto as the Joker, but we’ve seen relatively little of the quirky villain compared to the film’s other characters. Recently, however, Leto decided to show off a bit more of the colorful character by sharing new photos on social media.

Over the course of the last few days, Leto has used his Instagram account to release four photos (at the time of this writing), each with the green-haired villain front and center. Of the bunch, three feature Leto as his character alone, while the remaining photo teases his relationship with Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie). Their unconventional attraction is on full display — although Harley Quinn is the Joker’s former therapist, they clearly don’t have the typical doctor-patient relationship.

In the photo of the villainous duo, Harley Quinn appears to be wearing a lab coat, while the Joker is clad in a straitjacket as they lean in toward each other. “Hello doctor…” wrote Leto as a caption for the photo.

The photos of the Joker alone show more of Leto with his distinct look, including bright-green hair, heavy makeup, and a unique sartorial flair. There’s a lot of intensity in each, which isn’t surprising given that he stayed in character throughout the entire shoot. Naturally, people are expecting a lot from his turn as the villain, and these images seem to indicate that they won’t be disappointed.

And, of course, at least one photo had to show off his purple trench coat.

Leto also shared one more Empire cover, this one for the September 2016 issue. He also appeared in character on the magazine’s cover last year.

We’ll see a lot more of the Joker when Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5.
