In September, Hulu is bringing the story of dating apps to the forefront in Swiped. Lily James stars as Whitney Wolfe Herd (Lily James), an entrepreneur who co-founded Tinder. Whitney eventually pivots and starts her own dating app, Bumble, where women take charge in the connection.
Swiped is Hulu’s biggest movie released in September. There are plenty of other movies to watch on the service. The three movies listed below are on the underrated side. Our picks include a dramedy about grief and an inspiring sports biopic.
We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, and the best movies on Amazon Prime Video.
Jake Gyllenhaal plays a grieving husband in Demolition. The life of investment banker Davis Mitchell (Gyllenhaal) comes to a complete halt after the death of his wife in a car crash. Davis finds help coping from an unexpected source: a customer service representative named Karen (Naomi Watts).
Davis and Karen eventually meet and form a platonic friendship. Davis also becomes a mentor to Karen’s teenage son, Chris (Judah Lewis). Demolition is a moving dramedy about how people cope with unspeakable tragedies. We all dare to pick ourselves up; we just need to find the courage to do it.

In the early 2000s, Zach Braff was best known for playing the lovable J.D. Dorian on Scrubs. During the middle of his run, Braff wrote and directed Garden State, a funny and moving depiction of a young adult at a crossroads in his life.
After spending time in Los Angeles as an actor, Andrew Largeman (Zach Braff) returns to his New Jersey hometown to attend his mother’s funeral. At a doctor’s appointment, Andrew meets Sam (Natalie Portman), a charming, compulsive liar who brings out his softer side. By spending more time with Sam, Andrew slowly opens up and learns to do the most important thing to heal: forgive himself.

It’s football season, and everyone loves a good underdog story. Mark Wahlberg played an unlikely NFL player in Invincible. In 1976, bartender Vince Papale (Wahlberg) can’t catch a break. Papale is laid off from his teaching job, and his wife leaves him.
The only thing keeping Papale together is playing sandlot football and watching the Philadelphia Eagles. When the Eagles hire a new coach, the team decides to hold open tryouts for the public. Papale reluctantly attends and invites him to training camp to earn a roster spot. Invincible follows a familiar biopic formula, but its inspirational message remains heartwarming.
