A charming sports comedy should be on your list of underrated Netflix shows (September 2025)

September welcomed the final four episodes of Wednesday season 2. Fans will be happy to learn that Wednesday will return for a third season. Other new shows this month include Black Rabbit and Love Con Revenge.

Netflix has thousands of shows to offer, and we picked out three underrated programs below. Our choices include a sports comedy, a romantic drama, and a WWE showcase.

Kate Hudson is a party girl turned basketball president in the charming sports comedy Running Point. Isla Gordon (Hudson) has always been overlooked in her family, which owns the Los Angeles Waves basketball team. Much to her surprise, Isla is put in charge of the team after his brother resigns. 

How is Isla going to succeed in a job with no prior experience? It all starts with confidence, which Isla needs to prove her worth in a male-dominated field. Even if you don’t enjoy basketball, Running Point is a slam dunk comedy.

Virgin River is Netflix’s longest-running live-action scripted series. The author of the Virgin River series, Robyn Carr, also wrote a series of romantic novels that are the source material for the Canadian drama Sullivan’s Crossing.

Neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) lives a successful life in Boston. When a negligence lawsuit threatens to derail her career, Maggie returns to her quiet hometown community of Sullivan’s Crossing in Canada. Maggie left Sullivan’s Crossing to get away from her old life. Now, she’s forced to confront her past, including her estranged father (Scott Patterson). The humility of small-town living might be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Wrestling is not fake; it’s scripted. Think of WWE like a live-action movie with drama, deceit, and stunts. For the first time, CCO Triple H is taking the audience behind the curtain in WWE Unreal. With unprecedented footage, WWE Unreal captures what goes into a wrestling storyline and how it plays out with the talent. 

Cameras are present during meetings with the creative team as they build paths for wrestlers to win major events. John Cena’s unexpected heel turn is one of the leading storylines this season. Unreal is a fascinating view into sports entertainment. You will certainly have a greater appreciation for WWE after watching.
