Good luck trying to think of artists who haven taken the music world by storm with the same force as Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, and Ed Sheeran. The airwave presence of the two acts is completely inescapable, with tracks from their critically-acclaimed work cluttering the radio on every top-40 station.
It’s been a little while since we last got new work from the Seattle hip-hop duo. They’ve coasted comfortably on the massive success of their album the Heist, which gave the world far too many infectious tracks to dance to. Sheeran’s been steadily producing his own hits, so it only makes sense for the two stars to cross paths and loan their talents to one another. Growing Up focuses primarily on the topic of parents, as Macklemore speaks directly to his daughter and tries to impart all of the knowledge he’d want her to have, in case he isn’t there to share it with her directly. It’s touching, catchy, and everything you’ve come to expect from these acts.

Mac DeMarco has made himself into a bit of an indie sensation. The off-kilter Canadian artist dropped a new mini-album this week titled Another One, which seems to feature love and heartbreak as a primary theme. I’ve Been Waiting For Her stands out on the eight-track offering, as the ’70s inspired, fuzzy guitar riff shows DeMarco in his element. It’s a snug and cozy song — a little odd, but entirely comfortable and full of the singer-songwriter’s charm.
If you’re setting out to try to pick a genre for Chelsea Wolfe, you’re going to need a big vocabulary. She’s created an artsy, folksy, indie, metal sound that will draw you in with its alluring tunes and keep you coming back for more. Iron Moon, the latest track to sneak out from her new album Abyss, is a haunting experience that runs the gamut from booming to whisper and back again. It’s all over the place, which is right where Wolfe is comfortable.
Kid Cudi comes from a class of Chicago rappers who aren’t afraid to speak their minds or share their feelings. Known for his introspective style, he’s back to doing what he does best on Confused. The track draws on some grunge elements with its gritty guitar riffs. Cudi does his usual self-examination on the track, riding along with the heavy bass to create a sort of Nirvana meets rap mashup.

Former Dirty Projectors bassist and vocalist Angel Deradoorian is off on her own for the first time. Her upcoming debut solo album Expanding Flower Planet is expected later this year, and Komodo shows us what we can expect from the record. If it’s any indication, we’ll get a complete showcase of Deradoorian’s incredible vocal talent, as well as her love for psychedelic rock and world music influences.
That’s it for now, but check back every week for more new tunes to stream!
Who could have ever imagined that one day we would be able to access the entire discographies of our favorite artists and albums right from our smartphones or tablets, no matter where we are in the world? This remarkable convenience is one of the many wonders of music streaming services, a revolution that has transformed the way we experience and enjoy music.
In today's digital age, numerous audio platforms have emerged, each offering unique features and catering to different tastes. Whether it's Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, or any of the myriad other options available, these services aim to deliver your beloved tracks, intriguing podcasts, hilarious comedy specials, and countless other sound bites directly to your ears with just a few taps on your screen.
Typically, when you create music, whether a full-fledged track, background music for another project, or even just playing around, you have to use a variety of tools. You might have to jump between applications to do various things, like recording, applying post-production effects, and more. Avid Pro Tools is a comprehensive end-to-end audio production suite that aims to provide you with everything you need. With the tools, you can create, edit, produce, mix, master, and deliver, and much more.
Here's the kicker: For New Year's you can save 33% off and make music for a full year at a heavily discounted price. Normally, you'd pay $99 per year for Avid Pro Tools Artist, but right now it's only $66 per year. That deal will only be available from December 31 to January 3, though, so there isn't a lot of time if you want to take advantage.
Let's settle a musical debate: which music streaming platform should you use: Spotify or Pandora?
Both services have their unique strengths and weaknesses. Spotify boasts a more extensive music catalog, robust social features for sharing and discovering music with friends, and a more polished user experience across devices.
