Amazon just keeps adding to the laundry list of reasons for you to bite the bullet and Buy Now , and its latest comes in the form of Live Events. It’s not a misnomer — as you might suspect, Prime Live Events is a “live entertainment program exclusively for Prime members giving fans the opportunity to see their favorite artists perform up close and personal in iconic locations.” So if your summer plans include live music, this may be the summer to Prime.
While Amazon has always offered exclusive content to its members, this latest perk brings the incentive offline and into the real world. Prime members will have exclusive access to ticket sales, with shows kicking off this summer in the United Kingdom. Amazon notes that it has “carefully selected” its venues in order to create an experience that promises to be unique and intimate for both fans and artists. And don’t worry — even if you can’t get tickets to the live show, Prime Live Events will be filmed and then broadcast exclusively on Prime Video around the world.
Blondie will kick off Amazon’s very first Prime Live Event on May 23 with a performance at Round Chapel in Hackney. Over 700 Amazon Prime members will be able to listen to the band perform classic hits and new material from their latest album, Pollinator. Tickets for the event, which Amazon claims to be “one of the smallest and most intimate … the band have played in their career” go on sale on Thursday. Also scheduled for this summer are Alison Moyet, Texas, and Katie Melua. But this isn’t just a seasonal thing — Amazon notes that additional shows will be announced throughout the year, and if you’re interested in being kept in the know, you can sign up to get updates every Tuesday on Prime Live Events.
“We want to offer Prime members the best live entertainment experience they’ve ever had by giving them the chance to see their favorite artists perform up close and personal in iconic and intimate venues,” said Geraldine Wilson, general manager of Amazon Tickets. “We’re delighted to reveal our first line up of fantastic artists performing Prime Live Events in stunning venues to audiences of less than 800, and Prime members in the U.K. and internationally will have the chance to watch the performance on Prime Video.”
While it’s unclear if these events will come to the United States, it seems that should Live Events prove popular, they’ll eventually have to make their way across the pond. In the meantime, it’s not a bad excuse to make the trip over to the U.K.
