It goes without saying that everyone loves an outdoor barbecue, but all the hassle that comes with cleaning, storing, and moving the equipment means the experience rarely leaves the home. Outdoor lovers had no hope of enjoying a barbecue at the campsite.
For a more portable barbecue grill, Bison Camping Equipment had to come up with a better design. What they developed is a rolling grill. It’s compact, lightweight, and easy to clean, making it an useful addition to any outdoor gear bag.
The innovative, rolling design of the Bison Grill allows it to shrink from its 10-inch by 12-inch form to a more travel-friendly 2-inch by 12-inch form. Setting up the grill is as simple as unrolling it and sliding it on two grill guards to enable it to keep its form. From here, campers can either lay it directly onto a campfire, set it on a public grill to ensure a clean surface, or attach the included stake-stand posts for the desired height.
In order to maintain its durable and lightweight form, the grill has an aluminum construction with a non-stick Teflon coat. This provides long-lasting performance with an easy-to-clean surface that is dishwasher safe.
A hollowed grill structure adds to the lightweight nature, and provides an additional benefit — cool air can flow through the hollowed-out sections, preventing the food from burning. This in turn prevents the production of heterocyclic amines and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, leading to healthier food. The whole package includes a grill, grill guard, stake stand, protective cloth, and a carrying sack. Altogether, the package weighs less than 1.2 pounds.
Currently, the Bison Rolling Grill is available for pre-order through Kickstarter. Grills start at $50 with an additional grill costing only $30 more. With 14 days left in the campaign, the grill is just over $8,000 away from its $35,000 goal. Once the goal is reached, shipments go out in July.
