Instagram finally fixes the one thing you hated about Reels

What’s happened? Instagram just fixed the most annoying thing about Reels. Ever closed a video too fast or lost it to a clumsy thumb scroll? Yeah, that one. Now you can finally find it again. The platform has rolled out a Watch History feature for Reels, something that TikTok and YouTube figured out ages ago. Nevertheless, it lets you revisit every clip you have watched, so you can easily track down the ones you forgot to save or accidentally swiped past.

That’s important because: Sure, the feature isn’t entirely an original one, but for a platform that has been playing catch-up in the short video race with YouTube and TikTok, this one matters.

Why should you care? Instagram has been on a bit of a feature spree lately, from repost button to adding AI-powered editing tools to its Stories editor and now giving Reels a proper Watch History; the app’s clearly leaning into more user-friendly updates. The good part is that Instagram’s Watch History gives you a little more control than TikTok, so you can browse your watched Reels by putting several filters like newest/oldest first or a specific date range, and more.
