What’s happened? We might get to see the Samsung tri-fold phone later this month. The device is tipped to make an appearance at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which will take place in the southeastern city of Gyeongju, South Korea, between October 31 and November 1.
Why is this important? Over the past few years, the design of smartphones has constantly evolved from one phase to another. When it comes to folding devices, the next phase of evolution is triple folding. Huawei has already shown this with its Mate XT Ultimate.
Why should I care? Earlier reports claim Samsung could limit production, allowing the brand to observe how consumers react to the device, enabling them to make necessary adjustments. The Huawei Mate XT retails around $2500, so it is safe to expect the coming Samsung tri-fold phone to sell for around that, if not more.
Okay, what’s next? We praised the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 for having reached “peak design” in the foldable industry. Now, Samsung is looking to add one more hinge and a larger screen to its foldable lineup.
With expectations for an iPhone Fold from Apple next year still lingering, Samsung is preparing to set the bar even higher in the foldable industry.
