Need help navigating Snapchat? Snap’s official video guide has you covered

Snapchat's first official video guide may be aimed at Wall Street investors, but that doesn't mean general users can't watch it too. The clip will teach you how to use everything from stories to Memories direct from the source.

Snapchat is popular but still a pain to navigate for new users — and even some of its hardcore fans don’t know it as well as they think they do.

If you’re having trouble discerning stories from geofilters, help is at hand in the form of the official product guide from Snapchat parent company Snap Inc. However, the newly released clip isn’t actually aimed at users, which is odd seeing as it provides a solid step-by-step overview to the app. Instead, the video is for potential investors Snapchat is hoping will help it raise an estimated $3 billion when it goes public next month. You can view the clip, along with its other presentational roadshow items, here.

The company also recently provided a handy breakdown of its various functions in its initial public offering filing. But the colourful, close to 9-minute video is even better. It’s not just a marketing gimmick either, the clip is the closest the secretive company has ever come to officially explaining its product. Until now, it kept a cool distance, leaving it up to its (predominantly) young user base to figure out all of its weird and wonderful features.

The clip takes you through seven key sections relating to the app and the features they contain, including “camera,” “making a snap,” “creative tools,” “sending a snap,” “adding friends,” “chat,” “storytelling,” and “Memories.” The video’s minimal style sees an animated hand guide the viewer through each function. Not only does the explainer help you to understand what the most important aspects of the app are, but also shows you what its icons mean, and how its touch gestures work.

Before you know it you’ll have your own Bitmoji, be chatting with friends, and sharing stories on a regular basis. Alongside the product overview, Snap has also released two other videos geared toward investors, among them a 35-minute clip that lays down its history, future goals, and internal workings.

ShiftCam is adding to its range of iPhone filmmaking accessories with ProRig+, a revised version of its modular camera rig that has dedicated controls for focus, zoom, shutter, and shooting modes. The new system launches on Kickstarter with the ProControl remote, giving mobile creators a higher level of hands-on control without having to constantly tap their iPhone’s screen.

The announcement comes soon after ShiftCam introduced the original ProRig, developed with feedback from Apple. The original model is expected to ship in the coming weeks, while ProRig+ will be a more advanced remote and will be delivered to backers in February 2027. The Kickstarter campaign has also been honored with the platform’s “Projects We Love” designation.

Samsung's foldable lineup could be getting pretty crowded next year. We're already expecting successors to the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8, while fresh leaks hint that several more devices could be in the pipeline.

The expanded lineup might include a bigger fold, a potentially cheaper alternative, and even something that slides rather than folds. According to a new leak, Samsung is currently testing two different versions of an additional wide-format Galaxy Z Fold 9. That's not all, Samsung's foldable plans could feature a grand total of six models, which is kind of in line with earlier reports.

Motorola has built some of my favorite foldables and flagship phones. I had a great time with both the Razr Fold and last year's Signature. So when the company began teasing the Signature 27, I couldn't help be excited. The new model comes with Qualcomm's blazing-fast Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, and better still, it is finally getting a proper global release.

One of the reasons I was obsessed with the last-gen Signature was its amazing price tag. But it seems like that budget flagship dream might be officially dead. Portuguese retailer MegaPC has prematurely listed a 12GB RAM and 512GB storage Signature 27 in Pantone Coal Smoke for €1,594.90 (approx. $1,775).
