This weekend is not the time to take a stand about seeing movies on their opening weekend. With Matt Damon getting too old for this Bourne shiz, Bad Moms living up to its title, and Nerve tweening it up Dave Franco style, there aren’t a lot of reasons to bust your way to the box office this weekend unless you’ve yet to see holdovers like Ghostbusters and Star Trek Beyond.

Still, there’s plenty to get excited about in the world of entertainment this week — or at least intrigued. Speaking of Matt Damon, the guy is showing up everywhere this week, including in a trailer for the somewhat bizarre new film that’s dubbed as the most expensive Chinese movie ever made, The Great Wall. The basic premise is that the most famous wall of all time wasn’t built to hold back Mongol hordes, but instead it was designed to stop some kind of weird dog monster thing. According to Damon’s character, this is “the first war I’ve seen worth fighting for.” And if that brilliant dialogue isn’t enough, consider that the director also directed House of Flying Daggers and the Beijing Olympics opening (and closing) ceremonies.

We’ll also be talking about the new Justice League and Wonder Woman trailers that came out of last week’s Comic-Con festivities, and asking the question: Can Wonder Woman resuscitate Warner Bros.’ DC universe? It looks pretty fantastic, especially when she breaks out her golden lasso. Because, here’s the thing: If Wonder Woman sucks, people may well give up on this entire franchise. All of the movies so far have arguably looked good both on paper, and in trailers, and both have been disappointments — massive ones in the case of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. DC and Warner desperately need a win, and Wonder Woman is poised to spell out their fate. Luckily, it does look pretty awesome, as does Justice League.

We’ll also discuss a mess of new Netflix shows in the works, including the return of the brilliantly spooky, Twilight Zone-inspired series Black Mirror (which has a third season coming to Netflix), Arrested Development season 5, which is also in the works according to creator Mitch Hurwitz, and much more.
