Forget the lowercase i, these days all the excitement is about the triple e. According to reports from SlashGear and DigiTimes, ASUS chairman Jonney Shih teased the mass of tech-lovers at CES 2010 that they would have to wait until June to see the company’s “killer product.” This killer product is most likely the new ASUS Eee Pad tablet which was part of NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 display at the tech trade show this year.

Supposedly the Eee Pad tablet will launch this June and will retail for under $500. Hardware production firm and ASUS spin off, Pegatron, is said to be manufacturing the new tablet device. We’re not sure if that under-$500 price tag will hold up here in the states, especially if it’s boasting low configurations like Apple’s 16GB iPad for $499–the tablet frenzy is phasing back into the darkness of the tech industry, and it’ll probably take a really cheap and capable tablet to initiate a revival of consumer interest.
