It’s official: The next big Apple event is set for September 10, just around the corner. It’s where we’ll likely see the iPhone 11 range it Android and possibly a new Apple Watch — and maybe some surprises.
Invites were sent out to media outlets confirming the September 10 date, which has been rumored for several weeks. The invite shows a colorful Apple logo and text that says “By Innovation Only.”
Apple has historically held its annual iPhone launch event in September, and this year we’re expecting three new iPhones: The iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11, and iPhone 11R. The names are subject to change as they haven’t been confirmed yet. It’s likely a similar story as last year’s iPhone event, where we saw the iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, and iPhone XR.
The iPhones are rumored to have better batteries and improved camera features — particularly with low-light photography — as well as updates to Face ID. The screen sizes and display panels are expected to be the same, with two OLED models and the 11R opting for LCD.
The biggest change is expected to be with the camera. There will be three camera lenses on at least one of the iPhone models, adding a wide-angle lens to the standard camera and telephoto lens. It’s a trend we’re seeing with most smartphones — the LG V50 ThinQ, Samsung Galaxy Note 10, and the Huawei P30 Pro all have triple-camera lenses with similar configurations.
Apple may even adopt a feature seen in Huawei and Samsung phones that allows you to wirelessly recharge other devices by placing them on the back of the phone, according to Macotakara. This would allow you to recharge your AirPods via the wireless charging case with just the new iPhone.
There aren’t a ton of rumors about the upcoming Apple Watch, except that it may come in ceramic and titanium builds. We’ll also see the launch of iOS 13, as well as the latest versions of Apple’s other operating systems, including MacOS Catalina, tvOS, and WatchOS.

The OnePlus Buds Clip are a new pair of open-ear earbuds built around a simple convenience. They join Sony’s LinkBuds Clip in the growing ear-cuff category, but either OnePlus bud can go on either ear.
Sensors recognize how the earbuds are being worn and route the audio channels accordingly. There’s no label to check before putting them on, and the feature also works when only one bud is used.
We buy fitness bands and activity trackers to keep tabs on our exercise, but it is easy to forget to start tracking or switch modes when moving between different activities. For Fitbit and Pixel Watch users, that could soon become a lot less annoying, as Google is rolling out a major upgrade to automatic activity tracking that can recognize more than 100 types of exercise, up from just 10 before.
Google first showed off the improved tracking earlier this month alongside the Fitbit Edge. It is now coming to Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 3, 4, and 5, and Google claims the added context behind the system makes workout detection nearly twice as accurate while cutting missed activities by more than half. Fitbit Edge will support it too.
